Please do not be anxious about visiting our congregation! We know that visiting a church for the first time can be a scary endeavor. You are encouraged to move at your own pace, but we certainly do not want you to feel alone! Our worship service is at 10am on Sunday mornings. We have an optional time for Sunday School at 9am. We have a meet and greet area that serves coffee, tea and donuts where people can gather before Sunday School or before the worship service. In our worship service you will find people who will wear a coat and tie or simply be in jeans. We want you to be comfortable, so come as you are!
Our service is a traditional/blended service. We sing primarily hymns of the faith with a good mixture of more contemporary selections, spirituals and gospel songs. We use organ and piano and our choir sings every week. In addition to music, we utilize scripture, prayers and a sermon every Sunday.
As Disciples of Christ we celebrate communion every week. Our communion, or Lord’s Supper, is open to all who profess a faith in Jesus Christ. You do not have to be member of our church, or even a Disciple to participate. We use bread and grape juice to symbolize the breaking of bread and drinking of wine between Jesus and His disciples during that final meal together before Christ’s crucifixion.
We also have a moment we call “joys and concerns.” This is an open time in our worship service where anyone present can voice any prayer concerns or joys to the entire worshiping body. We also allow for a time of personal prayer during our service for any requests that are not made aloud.
