Our service is a traditional/blended service. We sing primarily hymns of the faith with a good mixture of more contemporary selections, spirituals and gospel songs. We use organ and piano and our choir sings every week. In addition to music, we utilize scripture, prayers and a sermon every Sunday.
As Disciples of Christ we celebrate communion every week. Our communion, or Lord’s Supper, is open to all who profess a faith in Jesus Christ. You do not have to be member of our church, or even a Disciple to participate. We use bread and grape juice to symbolize the breaking of bread and drinking of wine between Jesus and His disciples during that final meal together before Christ’s crucifixion.
We also have a moment we call “joys and concerns.” This is an open time in our worship service where anyone present can voice any prayer concerns or joys to the entire worshiping body. We also allow for a time of personal prayer during our service for any requests that are not made aloud.
